Project Description
2017 | Mount Zion, Jerusalem | Israel Antiquities Authority
Messages from the past sometimes turn up in unexpected places. On Mount Zion, in a small room now used as the laundry of a Bible study institution, unidentified inscriptions were found behind the washing machine. Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) identified them as the heraldic shields of German knights of the 16th century, among them the coat of arms of the Meissen district.
Team. Coordinator: Dr. Amit Re’em, Israel Antiquities Authority. Partners: Prof. Moshe Caine and Doron Altaratz, Hadassah Academic College.
